Thanks for visiting our events page!

If you've never taken the plunge to get involved in political action, we encourage you to get to know us by attending a meeting. We are a growing local party, but we need more people like you to step up and share your perspective. We are building teams of people to tackle projects like data entry and analytics, voter registration, special events, social media and content management, and candidate support and canvassing.

Data Management Team Meeting

Join us for data management and data syncing activities - new volunteers are welcome!  We'll continue with data syncing and tagging event attendees.

RSVP if you are able to come so that we can get your logins to the two systems established in time for your arrival.  Bring a laptop if you have one. The first session is usually slow going as we complete setup in both systems and get you acclimated to the tasks.

Note: For those of you willing to work on data entry remotely, we'll need to work together for a few sessions and then we can pursue remote assistance.

County Fair Setup

Setup should only take a few hours. We will meet at the Fairgrounds at Building D, right next to the fair office. You can park in the lot immediately in front of the building during setup.

Setup involves erecting the booth backdrop and setting up our booth equipment, including the TV for recorded videos. All you need to do is be willing to help and the ability to lift no more than 30 pounds. No technical expertise is necessary.

County Fair Booth Staffing

Democratic Party fair boothWe need volunteers to staff our booth during the fair. It's easy work and lots of fun. We have one-day fair passes for our volunteers who need them, or the Party can reimburse you. We ask that all volunteers wear business casual attire, which means a collared shirt and khakis or neat jeans. No candidate shirts, hats, buttons or other candidate attire are permitted. When you are staffing our booth, you are representing the Democratic Party of McHenry County.

If the shifts we have listed don't fit your schedule, just let us know and we can work something out. Thanks!

The County Fair celebrates our local farmers and the foods they produce. Walk through the barns where you can learn about beef, dairy, swine and poultry. Visit the gardens where you can see, learn, and hear from Master Gardeners about growing your own vegetables. Meet some of the farmers who produce your food. Learn about the history of farming in McHenry County. And then, sample some local food.  For more information visit the County Fair website.

…and just to be clear, we do not support the Fair's choice of Ted Nugent to headline the Saturday evening show. Our goal is to educate the public that the Democratic Party of McHenry County supports family values. Misogyny, hatred and bigotry have no place in our community. Some have suggested we boycott the fair, but our absence would be noticed by no one, and our place would be filled by another group who may not share our principles. It is important for us to be there to make sure that America's heritage of liberty and justice for all is represented and defended.
