TUESDAY MARCH 17th - 2026 GENERAL PRIMARY ELECTION
6:00 am -- Polls open
7:00 pm -- Polls close
Our "Vote" Page - find everything here.
Our awesome Democratic candidates -- browse down and you'll find them all.
Early voting continues through Monday March 16th -- here's the locations and schedule -- and if you're registered in McHenry County, you can vote at any McHenry County early voting location.
Here's our county clerk's page for looking up your precinct, and Election Day polling place & sample ballot. On Election Day, if you're voting in person, you've only got two choices -- vote at the polling place for your particular precinct, or vote at the "universal" site, the McHenry County Election Center at 410 South Eastwood Drive, Woodstock.
Here's a list of all the Election Day polling places prepared by our county clerk, together with the precincts that vote at each.
You can still vote in person if you've received a mail-in ballot, either early or on Election Day: Just bring the ballot and the paperwork that came with it to the polling place, hand it to the election judge and announce you wish to vote in person.
But if you are voting your mail-in ballot: either (a) put it in one of the county clerk's ballot dropboxes by no later than 7:00 pm on Tuesday (the best one is in the parking lot of the county administration building at 667 Ware Road in Woodstock), or (b) bring to the window at your local post office by no later than close of business on Tuesday and have it postmarked right then and there.
Our county clerk's website for tracking your mail-in ballot -- If you've voted a mail-in ballot, tracking it is highly recommended, to make sure it's counted.
And remember Illinois has same-day voter registration, courtesy of our Democratic majorities. If you're a US citizen, will be at least 18 years old on the November 3rd 2026 date of the upcoming general election, and have lived at your current address in McHenry County for at least 30 days, you can register to vote, and then vote, in one operation at the polling place. Just bring two forms of ID, one of which is a government-issued picture ID such as your State of Illinois drivers license or ID card, or your US passport.
