It takes more than good wishes to change the world

Like all county parties, we get no financial assistance from the Illinois Democratic Party or the Democratic National Committee. That's not necessarily a bad thing, since it also means we are independent of all outside influence. We call the shots and stand or fall on our own efforts. That's pretty cool.

But it does mean that we have to raise money at the local level. We don't need millions of dollars to be successful, but we do need enough funding to support our voter contact program, candidate training and support, internal operations (like this website), meeting space rent, liability insurance and many other incidentals. We raise money in two ways: direct appeal (i.e. donations), and special events. We host fundraising events several times a year to inspire, educate and entertain. Those events are often the first exposure many of our members have to the local party. We try to keep the events affordable and fun. We hope you will find the time to attend one of these events.

We also hope you will make a direct contribution to the party, either on-line, or by check made out to The McHenry County Democratic Central Committee, P.O. Box 1126, Crystal Lake, IL 60039. Thank you so much for your support!

Thomas Jefferson Dinner 2018

Be the change

The glory of justice and the majesty of law are created not just by the Constitution, nor by the courts, nor by the officers of the law, nor by the lawyers — but by the men and women who constitute our society, who are the protectors of the law as they are themselves protected by the law.

— Robert F. Kennedy

We invite you to our annual Thomas Jefferson Dinner to celebrate the work we’ve done, and to join us in the work we have yet to do. 2017 revealed to us that we are the leaders we’ve been waiting for. Let's come together in 2018 to protect our Democratic values of social, economic, and environmental justice for all.
