We are meeting once again at the 815 Chop House on Wednesday, November 13, at 7:00 p.m. to eat, drink, socialize, and make new friends with like-minded people. Last month we welcomed over 20 attendees, and we're hoping for another good turnout this month. We'll gather in the bar, and will keep the conversation going until at least 9:00 p.m. Ask for the Drinking Liberally group at the door, or look for our Drinking Liberally table sign.
On this day in history
On this day in 1982, the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall was dedicated. Often called simply, "The Wall", the simple and quietly reverent memorial honors the men and women who served in the controversial Vietnam War, and lists the names of more than 58,000 Americans who gave their lives in service to their country.
On this day in 1953 during the Red Scare, Mrs. Thomas J. White of the Indiana Textbook Commission, called for the removal of references to the book Robin Hood from textbooks used by the state’s schools. Mrs. Young claimed that the book was “a Communist directive in education". Perhaps a precursor of Trumpian thinking.
Drinking Liberally is an informal, inclusive progressive social group. Raise your spirits with us while you raise your glass. Share ideas with friends new and old. Drinking Liberally gives like-minded, left-leaning individuals a place to talk politics or any other topic that comes to mind. You don't need to be a policy expert and this isn't a book club — just come and learn from peers, trade jokes, vent frustration and hang out in an environment where it's not taboo to talk politics. Don't worry if you don't drink alcohol. Many of our members prefer soft drinks.
Drinking Liberally is a nationally chartered non-profit. It is not affiliated with the Democratic Party. Learn more about Drinking Liberally and Living Liberally at www.livingliberally.org/drinking
