Join us at the 815 Chop House on Wednesday, February 12, at 7:00 p.m. to eat, drink, socialize, and make new friends with like-minded people. Last month we had a standing-room-only turnout despite the cold weather. Start the New Year right by joining us at Drinking Liberally. We'll gather in the bar, and will keep the conversation going until at least 9:00 p.m. Ask for the Drinking Liberally group at the door, or look for our Drinking Liberally table sign.
On this day in history
On February 12, 1909, the 100th anniversary of Abraham Lincoln's birth, a group that included African American leaders such as W.E.B. Du Bois and Ida B. Wells-Barnett announced the formation of a new organization. Called the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP), it would have a profound effect on the struggle for civil rights and the course of 20th Century American history.
On February 12, 1999, the five-week impeachment trial of Bill Clinton came to an end, with the Senate voting to acquit the president on both articles of impeachment: perjury and obstruction of justice.
Drinking Liberally is an informal, inclusive progressive social group. Raise your spirits with us while you raise your glass. Share ideas with friends new and old. Drinking Liberally gives like-minded, left-leaning individuals a place to talk politics or any other topic that comes to mind. You don't need to be a policy expert and this isn't a book club — just come and learn from peers, trade jokes, vent frustration and hang out in an environment where it's not taboo to talk politics. Don't worry if you don't drink alcohol. Many of our members prefer soft drinks.
Drinking Liberally is a nationally chartered non-profit. It is not affiliated with the Democratic Party. Learn more about Drinking Liberally and Living Liberally at www.livingliberally.org/drinking
