On this day in history
August 12, 1990: Fossil hunter Susan Hendrickson discovered three huge bones jutting out of a cliff near Faith, South Dakota. They turn out to be part of the largest-ever Tyrannosaurus rex skeleton ever discovered, a 65 million-year-old specimen dubbed Sue, after its discoverer.
August 12, 1941: President Franklin D. Roosevelt and Prime Minister Winston Churchill meet on board a ship at Placentia Bay, Newfoundland, to confer on issues ranging from support for Russia to threatening Japan to postwar peace.
Drinking Liberally is an informal, inclusive progressive social group. Raise your spirits with us while you raise your glass. Share ideas with friends new and old. Drinking Liberally gives like-minded, left-leaning individuals a place to talk politics or any other topic that comes to mind. You don't need to be a policy expert and this isn't a book club — just come and learn from peers, trade jokes, vent frustration and hang out in an environment where it's not taboo to talk politics. Don't worry if you don't drink alcohol. Many of our members prefer soft drinks.
Drinking Liberally is a nationally chartered non-profit. It is not affiliated with the Democratic Party. Learn more about Drinking Liberally and Living Liberally at www.livingliberally.org/drinking
