Join us at Jude’s Cocktails in downtown Crystal Lake
Join us at Jude’s Cocktails on Wednesday, April 13, at 7:00 p.m. to eat, drink, socialize, and meet some like-minded people. If you are ready to get out and mingle with your progressive friends again, this is your chance. We’ve reserved space in the back dining area, and we will keep the conversation going until at least 9:00 p.m. There will be a few free appetizers to welcome you back. Ask for the Drinking Liberally group at the door, or look for our Drinking Liberally table sign. Space is limited, so make sure to RSVP if you plan on attending.
On this day in history
- On April 13, 1997, 21-year-old Tiger Woods won the prestigious Masters Tournament by a record 12 strokes in Augusta, Georgia. It was Woods’ first victory in one of golf’s four major championships—the U.S. Open, the British Open, the PGA Championship and the Masters—and the greatest performance by a professional golfer in more than a century. It also made him the youngest golfer by two years to win the Masters and the first person of Asian or African heritage to win a major.
- On April 13, 1970, disaster struck 200,000 miles from Earth when oxygen tank No. 2 blew up on Apollo 13, the third manned lunar landing mission. Astronauts James A. Lovell, John L. Swigert, and Fred W. Haise had left Earth two days before for the Fra Mauro highlands of the moon but were forced to turn their attention to simply making it home alive.
Drinking Liberally is an informal, inclusive progressive social group. Raise your spirits with us while you raise your glass. Share ideas with friends new and old. Drinking Liberally gives like-minded, left-leaning individuals a place to talk politics or any other topic that comes to mind. You don't need to be a policy expert and this isn't a book club — just come and learn from peers, trade jokes, vent frustration and hang out in an environment where it's not taboo to talk politics. Don't worry if you don't drink alcohol. Many of our members prefer soft drinks.
Drinking Liberally is a nationally chartered non-profit. It is not affiliated with the Democratic Party, but we do encourage your attendance if you are looking for a fun and relaxed way to get involved. Learn more about Drinking Liberally and Living Liberally at www.livingliberally.org/drinking
