Join us at Vine & Plate on Wednesday, July 12, at 7:00 p.m. to eat, drink, socialize, and meet some like-minded people. If you are ready to get out and mingle with your progressive friends again, this is your chance. Ask for the Drinking Liberally group at the door, or look for our Drinking Liberally table sign. Space is very limited, so make sure to RSVP if you plan on attending.
On this day in history
July 12, 1984: Walter Mondale, the leading Democratic presidential candidate, announces that he has chosen Representative Geraldine Ferraro of New York as his running mate. Ferraro, a daughter of Italian immigrants, had previously gained recognition as a vocal advocate of women’s rights in Congress. Ferraro became the first female vice presidential candidate to represent a major political party.
July 12, 1979: As the 1970s came to an end, the age of disco was also nearing its finale. But for all of its decadence and overexposure, disco didn’t quite die a natural death by collapsing under its own weight. Instead, it was killed by a public backlash that reached its peak with the infamous “Disco Demolition” night at Chicago’s Comiskey Park.
Drinking Liberally is an informal, inclusive progressive social group. Raise your spirits with us while you raise your glass. Share ideas with friends new and old. Drinking Liberally gives like-minded, left-leaning individuals a place to talk politics or any other topic that comes to mind. You don't need to be a policy expert and this isn't a book club — just come and learn from peers, trade jokes, vent frustration and hang out in an environment where it's not taboo to talk politics. Don't worry if you don't drink alcohol. Many of our members prefer soft drinks.
Drinking Liberally is a nationally chartered non-profit. It is not affiliated with the Democratic Party, but we do encourage your attendance if you are looking for a fun and relaxed way to get involved. Learn more about Drinking Liberally and Living Liberally at www.livingliberally.org/drinking
