On the 90th anniversary of the passage of the Social Security Act ... (passed by Democrats and Democratic President Franklin Delano Roosevelt!!)
Indivisible writes: "Trump has repeatedly promised that he's not going to make any changes to Social Security, but that's just another one of his lies. In addition to staff layoffs and other changes which have made it more difficult to access the Social Security office and to apply for benefits, US Treasury secretary Scott Bessent recently let it slip that there are plans to try and privatize Social Security. Millions of us have paid into the system over a lifetime of work and we rely on it for our retirement. Our current government-run Social Security system is inflation proof. Privatizing it would expose us to risky fluctuations in the stock market that could potentially lead to lower or more volatile retirement benefits. If you don't want Social Security to be privatized, please come to this protest rally to voice your objections to privatization and other harmful changes to our Social Security system."
