On Aug. 16 at 9 am the McHenry County Board will be reviewing proposed changes to solar amendments to the Unified Development Ordinance (UDO) regarding community solar sites. This potential move toward a more sustainable energy future in McHenry County represents a historic moment for our communities but is facing opposition. It is vital that support for community solar is shown at this meeting.
Please attend, sign in to speak in favor, and then actually speak very briefly about your support for community solar farms in McHenry County. Not only are community solar farms environmentally beneficial, they are economically beneficial by providing increased tax revenue in the county, increased jobs, lower electricity bills, and help for farmers by providing monthly rent income. The Environmental Defenders of McHenry County has information about Community Solar Farms on their website, including a position paper outlining the benefits of solar farms that you can access here.
