Precinct Committeeperson Petition Packet Sample
Everything you need to file to be a PC is right here!
A PC Petition form can be downloaded and printed from here.
Here's a PC Petition form with important fields pre-filled - "Democratic", "McHenry", "Illinois", the March 26th date of the primary. This one can save you time.
A PC Statement of Candidacy Form can be downloaded here.
The optional loyalty oath can be found here.Do not circulate petitions until August 5, 2025. You may fill the upper portion out on your computer, or print and fill it out by hand. Instructions and tips are at ABC's of Petitions on this site. Here are some of the basics:
PCs need a minimum of 10 signatures but get at least 15. 20 or 30 is even better.
Signers should sign with the same name and form that they are registered to vote with.
Signers need to be registered voters who live in your precinct. They should sign with pen…not pencil. Only blue or black ink.
What you need is their signature! They sign in the first column, print their name in the second column, print their address in the third column. (In a special case, the circulator could fill in the name and address for the signer, but it's far better for the signer to do that themselves.)
The circulator MUST witness signatures themselves.
Per the State Board of Elections, standard abbreviations may be used in writing the voter’s address.
You may pre-fill County (and the City if your precinct is located in one city) to save time.
Avoid ditto marks!
DO NOT SIGN THE AFFIDAVIT AT THE BOTTOM UNTIL YOU ARE IN FRONT OF A NOTARY!
DO NOT NUMBER YOUR PETITIONS UNTIL YOU ARE PUTTING YOUR ENTIRE PACKET TOGETHER.
Yes, you can sign your own petition. However, if you are a notary, do not notarize a petition that contains your own signature. The filing period runs from October 27th through November 3rd, 2025. You file at the County Clerk's office, at the County Administration Building, 667 Ware Road, Woodstock, just north of the courthouse.

Let the Sun Shine In - Board Reporting
“Sunlight is the best disinfectant,” or so the saying goes, and we would argue that sunshine on government operations is fundamental to our democracy. The public’s right to know must be protected because transparency and openness are the most effective ways to prevent corruption, wrongdoing, and bad government. One important way to make sure that decisions are made with public input and oversight is to have observers at government meetings.
Our federal government, all 50 states and the District of Columbia have passed “sunshine” laws, but the laws are only as effective as the public’s demand that they be followed. The people do this through their active participation and interest in their government.
Volunteers have stepped up and are making it their mission to attend local board meetings and report what they see and hear. This is particularly important when controversial items or issues of importance are being discussed or action taken. Their reports will be posted here, and we invite you to follow what is happening in your local community and answer the call to action when necessary.

Ruth Scifo published Municipal Election Recommendations in County & Local Candidates 2025-03-13 08:47:08 -0500
CANDIDATE RECOMMENDATIONS
Municipal Election 2025Read MoreThere are many races on the ballot for the April 1st Consolidated Election, and we have done our best to assemble a guide to help you in your selections. Please read the explanation below to correctly interpret the guide.
We have listed ONLY those races that meet one or more of the following criteria:
- which are contested,
- where we have a recommendation either for or against,
- where there is NO CANDIDATE.
These are just recommendations, not endorsements, as the Party does not endorse in non-partisan races.
The candidates recommended by the Democratic Party of McHenry County are indicated with a filled circle
in the sample ballot shown below. In some cases, there are more recommended candidates than seats. If voting on a paper ballot, fill in the dot next to these candidates. DO NOT MAKE ANY OTHER MARKS ON YOUR BALLOT!Official write-in candidates are also indicated, but remember, you must write out your choices on the ballot. Polling places are required to post write-in candidate lists. We recommend only those write-in candidates indicated with a filled circle.
There are races where we recommend candidates NOT be elected. Those names are struck out with a line through them. DO NOT VOTE FOR THEM BUT DO NOT CROSS ANY NAMES OFF ON YOUR BALLOT!
There are races where we did not recommend the candidate or strike them out. They have either asked not to be recommended, or we don't have enough information about them to recommend them, however, we do not believe they are associated with any right-wing or Republican groups.
NO CANDIDATE races have been included to encourage you to consider applying for an open position after the election is over.
Remember - Voting for only the candidates you prefer is perfectly acceptable. Not only is it acceptable, it is recommended! You don't have to vote for the number indicated (e.g., when it says Vote for 3, you can vote for 1 or 2 - or none at all). Bullet voting - or only voting for one candidate or just the Democrats/recommended candidates in an election - will help them in multi-seat races.

Carter Dinner Save the Date

SAVE THE DATE
MARCH 7th, 2026
Jimmy & Rosalynn Carter DinnerMark your calendars! We will celebrate the legacy of the late President and First Lady, Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter, at our annual fundraising dinner on Saturday, March 7th, 2026, from 6 to 9 pm at the Crystal Lake Holiday Inn. The Carters were true humanitarians whose lifelong commitment to public service improved the quality of life for individuals and communities worldwide. During these challenging times, they remind us of our Party's values, which we must defend. Funds raised are needed to support our mission to elect Democrats up and down the ballot in 2026.
Tickets will go on sale in just a few weeks - watch your email and mailbox to reserve your seats. This event is routinely sold out!
